I really do love the XBox 360, despite the problems that crop up with it from time to time. Let's face it, if you want to play some of the best games ever made for a console, you pretty much just have to suck it up and deal with troubleshooting the XBox 360 on you're own. Sending it off Microsoft to repair just isn't going to cut it when you're in the middle of Grand Theft Auto IV. I don't know about you, but I prefer not to be without my XBox 360 for two months since I play games on it every single day.
Of course, if you really don't want to deal with troubleshooting the gta 5 ps4 when the three red rings start staring back at you, you can send it off to Microsoft. At this point, it doesn't much matter when you bought it either since they finally extended the warranty for three years instead of the usual one. However, before you pull your game disc out and look for the original box to pack up the game, consider putting a little time into it yourself.
If you are at all handy, or at least can read and follow instructions or sit and watch a step by step video on your computer, it won't take long to just fix the XBox 360 problems yourself. It should only take you about an hour at the most and once the job is done, you should not ever have to deal with the red lights problem again. And while usually, the hardware error inside the console requires opening it up, there's also a few quick fixes you can try before you bust it open.
Getting into its guts and fixing the XBox yourself though will give you a permanent solution to this particular hardware failure so don't be scared of opening up the console. And once you are done, just make sure that you give the XBox 360 plenty of ventilation in the future as overheating has always been one of its main problems. As long as the vents aren't blocked though and you aren't piling stuff on top of the console, you should be fine.
